El Colorado

Information

It is a locality in the southeast of Formosa, one of the most populated in the province. It is situated on one side of the Bermejo River, on the border with the province of Chaco. It is 71 kilometres away from Pirané, 142 kilometres from Resistencia and 143 kilometres from the city of Formosa. It has services for visitors, such as lodging, places to eat, grocery shops, petrol station and cash dispenser.

It has a municipal camping site located in the outskirts, whose access is on the Provincial Route 1, metres away from the Libertad Bridge. It has a wide space with shade and tables, benches and cement barbecues. It is on the banks of the Bermejo River, which has turbid water of a brown or reddish colour due to the amount of sediments it drags, and in this sector you can see how it flows through a gully. It is possible to get to the river bank, but you have to be careful because the beach material can be very soft and you can sink when you step on it.

Next to the camping site there is a big water park, also municipal, with pools and games. It operates in summer (from December to March), when it is full of visitors coming from El Colorado and nearby towns. Cabins can be rented there.

To get to El Colorado by car, both from Resistencia and from the city of Formosa, you can get there by combining fully paved roads. If you go by public transport, vehicles arrive at its bus station from the cities of Buenos Aires, Resistencia, Rosario and Santa Fe, and from other points of the province, such as the capital city of Formosa, Las Lomitas and Pirané.
