Formosa

It is a province of Argentina, located in the north of the country. It is bounded to the north by the Pilcomayo River and to the east by the Paraguay River, which separates it from Paraguay. The Bermejo River (which to the west is the Teuco River) to the south separates it from the province of Chaco.

The territory is flat, and to the east there are flooded areas that form marshlands. The Pilcomayo and Bermejo Rivers (as well as the Teuco and Bermejito) carry a great amount of sediments, forming gullies and beaches with islets.

Undoubtedly, its protected areas are great attractions for its visitors, especially for those who are interested in being in contact with nature and wildlife watching:
- Laguna Oca: it is a biosphere reserve that includes a laguna (like a lake). It has a long beach with facilities for spending the day.
- Rio Pilcomayo National Park: it has two recreational areas with camping. You can go on trails, and it has footbridges and lookout over its Laguna Blanca (like a lake).
- Formosa Natural Reserve: it also has camping and hiking possibilities. It has viewpoints over the Teuco River.

You can also visit the locality of El Colorado, which has a large camping site on the banks of the Bermejo River and a water park. And Herradura with its beach area.

The main access routes to the province are:
- The international airport El Pucú in the outskirts of the city of Formosa is served by flights from the city of Buenos Aires.
- The international bridge San Ignacio de Loyola allows crossing to Paraguay from the locality of Clorinda.
- National Route 11 communicates with the province of Chaco and from there to the rest of the country towards the south.
- National Route 81 leads to the province of Salta and the northwest of Argentina.
