Laguna de Guatraché is both a body of water and a nature reserve located in the eastern part of the Argentine province of La Pampa. It lies about 10 kilometers from the town of Guatraché, 147 kilometers from General Acha, and 190 kilometers from the provincial capital, Santa Rosa. Its main distinguishing feature is the pink color of the water, resulting from its chemical composition. It is surrounded by caldén forests, a native tree species characteristic of the Pampean landscape.The site features an organized campground with cement benches and tables, electric power, restrooms, and hot showers. There is a basic convenience store and a restaurant, along with large areas of natural shade. It includes a shoreline zone equipped with rustic umbrellas made of wood and straw, and a lookout point offering excellent panoramic views of the water. Without a doubt, it is an ideal place to spend an afternoon outdoors, in contact with nature and enjoying tranquility.
It is also a good spot for those interested in observing wild birds. At Laguna de Guatraché, aquatic species can be seen such as the colorful Chilean flamingo (Phoenicopterus chilensis), the southern silvery grebe (Podiceps occipitalis), and a variety of ducks, coots, gulls, among others.
Access is fully paved, as the 10 kilometers that separate it from the town of Guatraché are asphalted. Vehicles must be parked outside the recreational area.
