Information

It is a protected area, specifically the Chancaní Provincial Natural Park and Natural Forest Reserve, located in the west of the Argentinean province of Córdoba. It preserves dry Chaco and mountain forests, conserving its native flora and fauna. There are no large urban centres nearby, there is only the village that bears its name (Chancaní) about 5.5 km away.

It is possible to visit it, since it has an area with toilets, a picnic area, and it is possible to camp and spend the night there. It has trails that allow different routes to be followed. It is important to take into account that there are no supplies in the place, so it is advisable to bring everything you need to be there, such as food, drinks and other things like mosquito repellent and sunscreen. It is popular with those interested in wildlife watching, as there are species of mammals, reptiles and a large number of birds that can be easily recorded.

To get to the protected area by car, you must take into account that its entrance is on Provincial Route 51, which is a dirt road that can be complicated by the rains. If you are coming from the south from Villa Dolores it is 72 km along this road. If you are coming from the north, either from the province of La Rioja or from Taninga in the province of Córdoba, you have to take the Provincial Route 28 and then some 4.5 kilometres along the Route 51, both of them with dirt stretches.
