The city of Villa Carlos Paz in the Argentinean province of Córdoba has 'balnearios' (a recreational area with a river) that constitute a great attraction for the hot season. This means that during that time of the year, especially during the months of January and February, crowds of tourists flock to those sites in this tourist destination and its surroundings.
They are located on the San Antonio River that crosses the urban area, which runs in a south-north direction and flows into the San Roque reservoir in the north of the city. This water stream runs through a mountainous environment, has crystal clear water and its bottom is made of yellow sand and stones. In some sectors there are beaches and it is surrounded by shady green spaces, which is ideal to spend a full day. Within the city limits there are some popular 'balnearios' such as the ones called El Fantasio and La Hoya. But it is worth mentioning that if we move southwards, on the same San Antonio River there are others such as Sol y Río, as well as those in the neighbouring towns of San Antonio de Arredondo, Mayu Sumaj, Tala Huasi, Icho Cruz and Cuesta Blanca. There is public transportation to get to these places.
It is worth mentioning that you can also find more on other streams and rivers in nearby towns such as Cabalango and Tanti. And on the San Roque Reservoir there is the possibility of carrying out different activities.
