Wildlife Watching in Tierra del Fuego National Park

The protected area has trails that give the possibility to walk through different environments and get to know its wild species.

The Tierra del Fuego subspecies of the culpeo (Lycalopex culpaeus) is frequently seen in the national park. It should not be confused with the other species of fox that is also present, the pampas fox (Lycalopex gymnocercus), which has been introduced.

Birds of interest include the spectacled duck (Speculanas specularis) and the less common austral pygmy-owl (Glaucidium nana). Also easy to see are common species from the region and other parts of the country, such as the black-chinned siskin (Carduelis barbata), austral parakeet (Enicognathus ferrugineus), kelp goose (Chloephaga hybrida), magellanic woodpecker (Campephilus magellanicus), upland goose (Chloephaga picta), ashy-headed goose (Chloephaga poliocephala), patagonian sierra-finch (Phrygilus patagonicus), fire-eyed diucon (Xolmis pyrope), magellanic steamerduck (Tachyeres pteneres), flying steamerduck (Tachyeres patachonicus), thorn-tailed rayadito (Aphrastura spinicauda), austral blackbird (Curaeus curaeus) and austral thrush (Turdus falcklandii).
