When deciding when to visit the Sierras de Ventania (Ventana), two points to take into account are the weather and the number of visitors:
- Although you can go at any time of the year, you have to consider that in summer (December to March) there can be very hot days and this can cause some activities such as the ascent to the Cerro Tres Picos or Cerro Ventana (mountains) to be complicated by the high temperatures.
- Take into account that during long weekends or summer seasons with many tourists (for example in January and February), the hotel occupancy in the localities can be very high and it can be difficult to get a place, so it is advisable to book in advance. For example, I went on a long weekend in October and spent more than an hour asking for accommodation.
- For those who like or have camping equipment, then the tent is a good alternative in high season or situations of shortage of accommodation, as there are camping sites in Saldungaray, Sierra de la Ventana (town), Villa Serrana La Gruta and Villa Ventana.
