Information

It is a town in the province of Entre Ríos, located on the shore of the Salto Grande reservoir, whose dam is built on the Uruguay River.

It has an interesting history, as the old Federación was submerged under the waters of the Salto Grande lake when its dam was built, which led to the creation of the new city. The new Federación was inaugurated in 1979 and is the one we see today with its beaches, while after crossing a bridge some remains of the old town can be seen on the other side, especially along the shores of the reservoir. I recommend visiting the Museo de los Asentamientos (Settlements Museum), which tells the history of the town and its different locations.

It has services such as a tourist information office, a variety of shops, a petrol station, an ATM, restaurants and accommodations of different standards and prices.

There are several beaches along the lakeshore, one after another: Las Palmeras Beach, Grande Beach, Baly Beach and Sur Beach. During the summer months (between January and March), they are usually open for swimming. There is also a several-kilometer-long lakeside fitness trail surrounded by green spaces. Boat rides on the lake are also usually offered.

About 12 km away is Chaviyú Forest Reserve, which is worth visiting to spend the day in a natural setting, as it has wooden boardwalks for exploring the area and also offers pebble beaches along its shore.
