Information
It is a historical site very much visited by those who come to visit the nearby localities of the Uruguay River shore.
It can be reached through an access road of about 4 kilometres that leaves from Provincial Route 39, which joins Concepción del Uruguay with Basavilbaso. In total, it is about 32 km from Concepción, 40 km from Basavilbaso, 62 km from Colón and 90 km from Gualeguaychú.
You have to pay a ticket for access, and at certain times the museum gives guided tours.
This is where the ex-governor and ex-president Justo José de Urquiza used to live and where he carried out his political functions. The palace was built in 1848, and over the years it was enlarged and improved. It had drinking water, which was a novelty in those times. It had all the comforts for him and his family, including a games room and a chapel. There were a large number of rooms and the necessary infrastructure to receive other politicians of the time. It is worth mentioning that this palace was also where Urquiza was assassinated.
About 50 metres from the palace an artificial lake was built, which nowadays is a good environment for bird watching of the area.
