Information
It is a city located on the west bank of the Uruguay River, and it is one of the most populated cities in the province of Entre Ríos.
It has several tourist attractions, so it receives a great number of tourists in summer (January and February) and long weekends. The number of people increases even more during the carnival, since Concepción is one of the cities that celebrates it.
It has a tourist information office, a variety of shops, restaurants, ATM, petrol station and hotels of different levels and prices. It also offers more than one camping option.
There are several beaches of different types and activities that can be done in them:
- Balneario Banco Pelay: it is an extensive beach with a recreational area, where camping is allowed. During some weekends of high season (January and February) there are concerts and/or festivals on the beach.
- Balneario Itapé: it is a small beach, with camping sites in its surroundings.
- Isla del Puerto: it is a place that is accessed by a bridge. There are car parks, a restaurant and a wide beach.
In high season, boats and catamarans leave from the port area to visit and spend the day on the islands.
Once out of the city, it is highly recommended to drive about 32 km and visit the San José Palace, a historical site where the former president Justo José de Urquiza lived and directed his activities.
Other tourist attractions leaving the city, is to visit other nearby destinations on the banks of the Uruguay River, especially Colón and San José. And also to drive 80 km and visit the El Palmar National Park, with all its nature.
