Information
It is an urban protected area located in Ushuaia, near the city centre. It can be visited, and the entrance to the reserve is free of charge.It has a body of water, which can be walked around, and in some sectors it is possible to get close to its shore (it is forbidden to get into the water or bathe in it). Its northeast side is bordered by Luis Pedro Fique Street, from where you can see the Encerrada Bay on one side and the Beagle Channel on the other side.
There is also a park area with a path with viewpoints. Throughout the area there is a good view of Ushuaia with mountains in the background, including Mount Olivia.
It is a great place for those interested in bird watching, as several species typical of the region such as the kelp goose (Chloephaga hybrida), the dolphin gull (Larus scoresbii), the magellanic steamerduck (Tachyeres pteneres) and the flying steamerduck (Tachyeres patachonicus) can be frequently recorded.
