Information

It is the capital and the most populated city of Tierra del Fuego. It is located at the southern tip of the Argentine sector of the island of Tierra del Fuego, on the shores of Ushuaia Bay and Golondrina Bay in the Beagle Channel. It is the southernmost town in the country.

Visitors will find a variety of services such as a tourist information office, supermarkets, ATMs, banks, public hospital, car rental and petrol stations. There are also a large number of places to eat and accommodation of different prices.

Touristically, it offers many activities to do within the city itself or in the surrounding area:
- Being located on the shores of the Beagle Channel, it has long distances to explore along the coast. To the east, the Playa Larga (Larga beach) stands out, and to the west, the Golondrina bay.
- You can also go on nautical excursions, as there are boat trips to different islands.
- For those interested in bird watching, there is the Bahía Encerrada Urban Nature Reserve, where species can be registered by its body of water and surroundings.
- The Maritime and Prison Museum is a must to learn about the origins of the city and the prison that operated until the first half of the 20th century.
- Another way to learn about Ushuaia's past and history is to take a trip on the Tren del Fin del Mundo (End of the World Train).
- On the outskirts are the Martial Glacier and the Esmeralda Laguna (like a lake), ideal for hiking and appreciating striking landscapes.

Outside the city, about 10 to 15 km away is the Tierra del Fuego National Park, which has roads and trails to get to know it and be in contact with nature. And for the cold months of the year, 26 km away is the Cerro Castor ski centre.
