Les Éclaireurs Lighthouse

Information

It is an 11-metre high lighthouse on an islet in the Beagle Channel. It is located 4 km off the coast of the Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego and about 15.5 km from Ushuaia. Not to be confused with the Faro del Fin del Mundo (Lighthouse at the End of the World) referred to in the novel by French writer Jules Verne, which is another lighthouse located on Isla de los Estados.

It was commissioned in 1920 and now operates automatically. On its islet you can usually observe some birds such as cormorants and other marine species that usually perch there.

There are excursions that leave from Ushuaia with which you can see it from a distance. These tours usually include other attractions, such as the observation of the nearby Isla de los Pájaros e Isla de los Lobos.
