Boat Trips in Ushuaia

Information

The city of Ushuaia is located on the coast, so it is a classic for tourists to go on boat trips to tour the Beagle Channel and see its attractions.

On Prefectura Naval Street, between Julio A. Roca and Comodoro A. Laserre Streets, there are several stalls next to each other offering different boat excursions. About 50 metres away from this place is the port, from where the boats for most of these tours depart.

There are departures to different places, with a variety of options in terms of duration, timetables and prices. There are ferries, catamarans or smaller boats, sometimes even for the same itinerary. Among the most common options are:
- Les Éclaireurs lighthouse: you can see a lighthouse that is located on an islet and works automatically.
- Isla de los Pajaros and Isla de los Lobos: two islets with lots of birds and sea lions can be seen close up.
- Bridges Islands: it is an archipelago with no permanent population. On its largest island you can go down and walk along a path that leads to a panoramic viewpoint.
- Martillo Island: of interest is the presence of two species of penguins that are not seen everywhere, which are the gentoo penguin (Pygoscelis papua) and the king penguin (Aptenodytes patagonicus).
- Puerto Williams (Chile): the usual way is first to cross by ferry from Ushuaia to Puerto Navarino, followed by a 1-2 hour bus transfer to Puerto Williams.
