Isla de los Pájaros and Isla de los Lobos

These two islets are located in the Beagle Channel, about 4 km off the coast of Tierra del Fuego.

The Isla de los Pájaros is so named because of the number of birds that can be seen on its surface. The most numerous species is the imperial shag (Leucocarbo atriceps), and others such as the kelp goose (Chloephaga hybrida), rock shag (Leucocarbo magellanicus), dolphin gull (Larus scoresbii) and even some sea lions can also be seen.

Isla de los Lobos is named for the presence of South American sea lion (Otaria flavescens), usually accompanied by birds such as imperial shags.

There are excursions departing from Ushuaia with which you can observe these islands and their fauna from a distance. These tours usually also include the observation of the nearby Les Éclaireurs Lighthouse.
