Information
It is an exclusively tourist train, which would be a replica of a section that the old prisoners' train used to run from Ushuaia to the forest at the beginning of the 20th century.
The route starts at the Fin del Mundo Station, which is about 7 or 8 km from the city of Ushuaia. It has an intermediate station called Cascada La Macarena, where you stop for a while to go up to see a waterfall. Then it enters the national park, where it crosses a peat bog area (a type of wetland that is more than 90% found in Tierra del Fuego). The journey ends at the Parque Nacional Station. During the trip, you can listen to the history of the train through loudspeakers. The total length of the trip is about 7 kilometres.
There are tourists who make the round trip on this railway. Others only make the one-way trip, stay to tour the park, and finally return to Ushuaia by another means of transport.
It has a website with information, contact and where you can buy tickets in advance with a credit card.
