Playa Larga

Information

It is a beach located on the outskirts of Ushuaia, in an easterly direction, on the shores of the Beagle Channel. To get there, first take Perito Francisco Moreno Street and then follow parallel to the coast for about 2.5 kilometres.

Access is free and without charge. Take into account that there are no shops in the place, so it is advisable to bring everything you need. There is a car park at the side of the road, from where a path goes downhill and crosses a vegetation area with some bonfires and picnic sites. The trail finally reaches the beach, which, as the Spanish name 'larga' says, is long.

From there you have a good view of a part of the city of Ushuaia with mountains in the background. The surrounding area is natural and corresponds to a reserve. It is common to see coastal birds, such as the dolphin gull (Leucophaeus scoresbii) and other species such as petrels and ducks.

If you continue along the access road for about 2.5 km more, the road ends, and if you continue on foot for a few metres you will reach a beacon called Escarpados.
