It is a touristic locality situated by the sea coast. It is about 12 km from the centre of Comodoro Rivadavia and 70 km from Caleta Olivia.
It is very crowded in summer (January to March) and holidays, mainly by inhabitants of nearby cities. It has a variety of services such as supermarkets, hotels, restaurants, bank with ATM and petrol station. There is a municipal camping site equipped with tables and showers.
The beach is bounded by cliffs and is very long, several kilometres long. There is a path along the coast for walking or cycling. Bear in mind that there are times when the wind is very strong.
It has a regional museum with rooms on paleontology, archaeology and the ecosystem of the Patagonian steppe. Six kilometres south is Punta del Marqués, a protected area where there is a viewpoint to see sea lions and sometimes you can see some species of whales.
It can be reached directly by the asphalted National Route 3, which connects it with the main cities of the coast. Buses run to and from Comodoro Rivadavia during the day.
