This protected area is ideal for the observation of fauna, both for the variety of species it has and for the existence of trails that allow access to different environments. You can walk through its forest and ravine, and reach a range of altitudes from 500 metres above sea level to 1450 metres above sea level.

There are many mammals, amphibians and reptiles recorded. It is common to see vipers, so it is recommended not to leave the marked trails.

If you visit the reserve early in the morning, you may see a good number of birds. Common species of interest are the brown-capped whitestart (Myioborus brunniceps), the olive-crowned crescentchest (Melanopareia maximiliani), the rufous-sided warbling-finch (Poospizopsis hypocondria), the band-tailed seedeater (Catamenia analis), the black-backed grosbeak (Pheucticus aureoventris) and the black-and-chestnut warbling-finch (Poospiza whitii).
