Las Palmeras Dam

Information

It is a reservoir whose dam is about 3 km from the town of San Francisco del Monte de Oro, in the northern part of the province of San Luis, Argentina. It sits on the Claro River, and its name comes from the abundance of caranday palm trees in the area, which give the region a distinctive character.

It is surrounded by paved roads: to the north, the road to the dam; to the west (Provincial Route 9) and to the east, which connect in the south. This road network provides easy access to its main attractions, such as scenic viewpoints, panoramic areas and the shoreline.

The reservoir is set in a rugged and natural mountain landscape, making it an ideal spot for leisure activities and non-motorized water sports. One area features a public beach with parasols, which becomes very popular with tourists and locals alike during the peak summer season (January and February), when people come to enjoy the warm weather.
