Juan Gómez River

Information

This is a riverside area in the Argentine province of San Luis, located on the outskirts of San Francisco del Monte de Oro. It lies alongside the Juan Gómez River, which originates in the Sierras de San Luis and flows down their slopes through the mountains. Its water level can vary considerably depending on whether it is the rainy or dry season.

The river has clear waters and forms natural pools. It is surrounded by a natural landscape where the rocks along the riverbed and the mountains in the background offer spectacular panoramic views, ideal for taking great photographs. It is a perfect place to enjoy a picnic and cool off during the warm summer months (December to March). Keep in mind that there are no facilities or services at the site, so it is best to bring everything you will need depending on how long you plan to stay, including food and drinks.

To get there from Plaza Pringles (a square) in the center of San Francisco del Monte de Oro, take Centenario Street and cross the bridge over the San Francisco River. About 50 meters later, take the first street on the left. From there, continue for about 6 km until you reach the river. You will come to an area where you can park your car along the roadside, and from there it is a walk of about 20 meters to reach the bathing area.
