Information

It is an extensive pampa or elevated plain in the province of San Luis, in Argentina. It is located in the western sector of the Sierras de San Luis (a mountain chain), at more than 1700 metres above sea level. This plain offers a wild and solitary landscape, ideal for those seeking to connect with nature.

The area is crossed by several streams and is located on Provincial Route 9, on the section that connects La Carolina with San Francisco del Monte de Oro, two localities popular with tourists. This mountain road allows you to enjoy stunning natural landscapes, and to appreciate panoramic views of a very sparsely populated region. For these reasons, it should be taken into account that you won’t find any services along the way, so it is necessary to bring enough supplies and petrol for the journey.

Its natural environment is ideal for the observation of wildlife typical of the region, and it is common to see a variety of birds adapted to the mountainous climate. Among the most outstanding species is the Andean condor, which can be seen flying at high altitudes or, with a bit of luck, you might spot a perched juvenile.

Thanks to its altitude and unique features, it is a perfect destination for a scenic drive or photographic outing. Including it in an itinerary through the mountainous region of San Luis is undoubtedly an excellent way to discover one of the authentic corners of the province.
