Beaches of Bariloche

San Carlos de Bariloche is located on the southern shore of Lake Nahuel Huapi. One of its main attractions is its beaches along the lake, many of which are public and free to access. The water is clean, although it tends to be very cold even during the warmest months of the year.

There are many beaches that are very easy to reach, as they are close to the avenue that runs along the lake shore, which changes names from east to west and is successively called 12 de Octubre, Juan Manuel de Rosas and Ezequiel Bustillo. Among the best known, going from east to west across the city, are:
— Playa Centenario: it is next to the mouth of the Ñireco River and is quite spacious, with sand and small stones. There are usually some people there during the high season, but it is less crowded than the one in the city center.
— Playa del Centro: located about 150 meters from the Civic Center. It is very crowded during periods of peak tourism.
— Playa Melipal: its main feature is that it has stones instead of sand.
— Playa Bonita: it is somewhat removed from the city center and is about 500 meters long.
— Playa Serena: even farther from the center, it is located in a small bay.

It is worth noting that Lake Nahuel Huapi is extensive and has many more beaches outside the limits of Bariloche, both in its Río Negro and Neuquén sections. Naturally, the ones in the city are the best option if you want to have services nearby, while those outside the city can be an alternative for those looking for more secluded and less developed places.
