Villa Los Coihues

Information

Villa Los Coihues is a village in the Argentine province of Río Negro, located on the northern shore of Lake Gutiérrez, about 15 km from downtown San Carlos de Bariloche. It is located near the Gutiérrez section of Nahuel Huapi National Park, so it is often an intermediate stop for those traveling from Bariloche to take part in various activities in that area of the park.

The locality has some basic services for visitors such as grocery stores, accommodations and camping facilities. It also has a public beach, from which visitors can enjoy an excellent view of the body of water surrounded by forest and mountains. At the beginning of the village and its shoreline, the Gutiérrez Stream begins, which is an outflow of the lake and after flowing for about 5 km empties into Lake Nahuel Huapi. Throughout this entire area, some wild birds can often be spotted, such as the black-faced ibis (Theristicus melanopis).

Villa Los Coihues can be reached from Bariloche by first taking Bustillo Avenue and then Provincial Route 82. It can also be reached by bus line 50, which drops passengers off right in front of the village's beach, making it a relatively easy place to visit without needing to have your own vehicle.
