Information

By Lake Gutierrez there is a sectional of the Nahuel Huapi National Park, which is accessed by a 2 km. gravel road from Villa Los Coihues. Once you get to the park ranger's office, continue a few metres and you will reach a car park where you will find the gate of an organised camping site and the entrance to four trails.

The first stretch is common to all the trails. After about 400 metres there is a first fork where the Cascada de los Duendes trail opens on the right. The one on the left continues for 200 metres until a second fork where the Mirador Lago Gutiérrez path opens on the right. If you follow the path on the left, after another 4 km it splits into the Playa Muñoz trail on the left and Refugio Frey on the right.

Detailing the trails:
- Cascada de los Duendes: this is easy, with almost no gradient and takes 40 minutes one way. It is a walk along a path that at times borders the Pescadero stream, and finally leads to a place with waterfalls.
- Mirador Lago Gutierrez: it takes 1 hour one way. It is of medium difficulty for people in good physical condition, as it is all uphill. You reach a viewpoint at the top, which is a good panoramic point with views of Lake Gutiérrez and the surrounding forest.
- Playa Muñoz: it takes about 2.5 hours one way and is considered of low difficulty. The first section, which coincides with the Refugio Frey trail, has some uphill sections, some forest and some walking in the sun. The last part descends to a beach on Lake Gutiérrez.
- Refugio Frey: it takes 5 hours one way and is of medium difficulty. A large part of the route is uphill, so you need to be in good physical condition to do it.
