Information

It's a tourist trail located on the outskirts of the Jujuy town of Purmamarca. It's one of the classic walks in the province and in northwestern Argentina, a must-see that impresses with the colors of the surrounding mountains.

The full path stretches about 2.5 km and begins roughly 300 meters from the town's 9 de Julio Square. It can be done by vehicle or on foot, and there's no need to go with a guide. If done walking, the trail is low difficulty with a gentle slope, and it's highly recommended to start in the morning to avoid the midday sun which can be intense (especially during the summer months, between December and March).

Along the way, you can observe geological formations and a range of reddish tones that define the landscape around the Cerro de los Siete Colores (Seven Colours Hill). These colors come from the mineral composition and the different geological eras that shaped the terrain. There are several spots that serve as viewpoints, with space to park vehicles. They're perfect for taking panoramic photos of the area, where the challenge lies in capturing the best shots depending on the time of day and the angle of the frame. Across from the trail and through one of its access points, there's a staircase leading to a viewpoint called El Porito, where you'll find an informational sign and a chance to enjoy the view from above.

Anything you might need can be found in town, which offers a wide range of shops selling food, drinks and all kinds of basic items for visitors.
