Information

Riocito is a small spot located in the Argentine province of San Luis. It sits at the foothills of the Sierras de San Luis (hills), just about 800 meters from the La Florida reservoir.

It lies along Provincial Route 39. To get there from the village of La Florida, you need to travel roughly 3.5 km on paved roads, following a route that mostly runs alongside the reservoir and offers spectacular views of the water. From El Trapiche the access road is about 8.5 km also paved, winding through low hills and native vegetation.

Its main attraction is the Riocito River (also known as La Bajada), which flows beside it and later joins the Quinto River as a tributary. It's a typical mountain river with clear waters and a bed of sand and stones, perfect for cooling off in summer. There's a simple riverside spot with shade from trees, picnic areas and space to park vehicles.

It's worth noting that the area only has a few very basic shops, so it's best to bring everything you'll need to spend the day or enjoy a moment of outdoor rest. During the peak heat season (especially in January and February) and long weekends, it tends to get a bit busy, but unlike other tourist destinations in the province it rarely gets overcrowded and maintains a certain sense of calm.
