El Volcán

Information

It is a locality of San Luis, located at about 17 km from the provincial capital. It is situated in the south of the Sierras de San Luis (a mountain chain).

During the summer (mainly January and February) it receives a great number of tourists. It has a variety of lodgings such as cabins, hotels and camping sites. It has a tourist information office, ATM, shops and restaurants.

Pringles Avenue crosses the town from one side to the other, and is where most of the services and attractions are located and/or accessed. It is also the way to get there by car from other parts of the province. To go by bus, there are daily buses coming from the city of San Luis and El Trapiche.

The town is crossed by the El Volcán River, on which there are different recreational areas and attractions:
- Balneario El Badén: it is a sector where the river is surrounded by green spaces with tables and shaded places.
- Balneario La Hoya: it is a complex with facilities and services, where there are pools ideal for bathing.
- Salto Colorado: there is a footbridge that has the calm river on one side and a waterfall on the other side.
- Cruz de Piedra Dam: It is located in the outskirts of the town. It has viewpoints and access to its shore.
