La Hoya

Information

La Hoya is a riverside recreation area located in the town of El Volcán, in the Argentine province of San Luis. It sits on the river of the same name (El Volcán), one of the tributaries of the nearby Cruz de Piedra dam. It is one of the main attractions in the area, well known and frequented by tourists during the hot season. In the months of January and February it tends to get quite crowded, especially in the afternoon.

Access to the site is via Pringles Avenue, the town's main road. It offers facilities and services for visitors such as parking, restrooms, a general store and craft stalls. In addition, it is located just 1–2 km from the town center, making it easy to make any additional purchases if needed.

The area features shaded spots along the river, ideal for spending a picnic afternoon. In one section of the complex there are walkways and two pools of different depths intended for swimming. The entire setting is immersed in a mountainous landscape with the surrounding sierras visible in the distance, framing a special atmosphere for the site.
