Piedras Coloradas and Beaches South of Las Grutas

Information

From the locality of Las Grutas, first taking Viedma Street, then turning into Ing. Jacobacci Street and finally following Somuncura Street, a dirt road that starts to go along the beaches towards the south.

Taking as kilometre 0 (zero) the beginning of this road we can see:
- Piedras Coloradas (Red Stones): its access is at kilometre 5. It is a beach with reddish rocks in one of its sectors, which give it its name. There is also an area with dunes. It has a parking area and some basic services.
- Following the road there are a couple of accesses to different beaches.
- Playa El Buque (El Buque Beach): its descent is at kilometre 8. It is so called 'buque' ('ship') because of the shape of some rocks that can be seen at low tide. It is a beach that is partly sandy and partly pebbly. There are usually few people.
- At kilometre 12 is El Sótano, a beach with cliffs.
- Then the dirt road ends. It continues as a track through the sand, only for 4x4 vehicles and an authorised guide, leading to a huge plateau called Fuerte Argentino.
