Information

It is a beach on the coast of the Caribbean Sea, in the Limón province of Costa Rica. It is only 2 km from Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, 6 km from Punta Uva and 19 km from Cahuita. Along the Route 256 that runs parallel to it there are bars, places to eat and stalls to buy handicrafts and summer articles.

It is a long and wide beach, although it is not suitable for bathing due to strong waves and dangerous currents. It is frequented by surfers. From the sand you can see Cocles Island (also called Piedra Cocles), which is an islet covered with vegetation about 200 metres from the coast.

To get there, take Route 256, where there are several entrances to the beach. From Puerto Viejo you can get there in 5 minutes by taxi, or by taking any bus that goes along the road and stops at the beach.
