Cabeza del Indio

Information

It is a tourist attraction that has a geological shape in a rock that looks like the head of an Indian, which gives the place its Spanish name. It is on the outskirts of the town of El Bolsón, in the Río Negro province of Argentina, and is a classic attraction for tourists visiting the region.

To get there from the centre of El Bolsón, it's about 4.5 km along the gravel road that passes by the Mirador del Azul (a viewpoint, where you can get off to take some photos). My recommendation is to take a GPS to be able to find your way and not get lost at any intersection.

You arrive at a car park where the entrance to the recreational area is located. At the beginning there are two trails, each of which takes about 20 minutes one way and has uphill sections. One of them leads to a viewpoint over the valley of the Blue River, with excellent panoramic views. The other trail leads to the Cabeza del Indio, which has parts with steps.
