La Angostura Dam

Information

It is a dam with its reservoir located in the province of Tucumán in Argentina, at an altitude of 2137 metres above sea level. It is fed by watercourses such as the El Mollar River to the south and to the north by the Tafí River, which is joined by others such as the Churqui and the Blanquito. The main effluent is the Los Sosa River. It can be observed that it is surrounded by mountains, since to the south and west are the Sierras del Aconquija, to the north and east the Cumbres de Tafí, and somewhat further north the Cumbres Calchaquíes.

The town of El Mollar is located on its shores, where there is a road that allows access to the reservoir. To the north, about 5 km away is Tafí del Valle.

The eastern side of the reservoir can be travelled along Provincial Route 307, where there are viewpoints with excellent panoramic views of the lake and the surrounding towns and elevations.
