It is the best known tourist locality of San Luis. Besides receiving a great number of visitors, it is the place chosen by many inhabitants of the cities of that province to have their weekend or summer home.

It has a variety of services such as tourist information office, ATM, petrol station, supermarkets, restaurants and lodgings.

It is located in a valley, at the foot of the Sierras de los Comechingones (a mountain chain). It has one of the best microclimates in the world, with pollution-free air and high negative ionisation making it highly healthy. Summers (December to March) are warm and winters (June to September) are cool with quite cold nights.

It is surrounded by streams and mountains, with many tourist attractions to visit:
- El Filo: it is a tour along the slopes of the Sierras de los Comechingones. It passes by viewpoints and reaches an altitude of almost 2200 metres above sea level. Some people offer to do zip-lining.
- Mirador del Peñon Colorado: it is a panoramic point with views of the valley and the mountains. It is accessed by a road (check if it is in good conditions or not) that goes off to the right after taking Avenida de los Venados in a northerly direction.
- Pasos Malos: it has a stream of crystalline water, where you can take a short walk that leads to a waterfall. To get there, take Avenida de los Venados towards the north, where a paved road of 3 kilometres leads to a car park with food and handicraft stalls, which is a few metres away from the stream.
- El Viejo Molino Municipal Nature Reserve: it has a path that crosses a forest and after walking for about 10 minutes you arrive at the Piedra Blanca Stream. On the way you can observe a Comechingón altar (archaeological site). The name of the protected area is due to an old hydraulic flour mill that worked until the beginning of the 20th century. It can be reached through the Avenida de los Incas and there is a parking lot at the entrance of the place.
- Mogote Bayo Provincial Natural Reserve: it is a protected area that offers trails and a Way of the Cross. You can get to know its forest and have good views of the area from different viewpoints. There is an access on the asphalted Provincial Route 5, where a 50 metre long dirt road leads to the entrance and further on to an information office.
- Salto del Tabaquillo Waterfall: It is located in a florofaunal reserve that is accessed through a road that forks off Route 5. There is a path with sections of certain difficulty that leads to an 18 metre high waterfall.
