General information

An overview of what you can see and do along the route.

This circuit includes the towns and attractions located at the foot of the Sierras de los Comechingones (a mountain chain), in the northeast of the province of San Luis.

The presence of streams with crystalline water, waterfalls and ravines, make that there are multiple sites with camping sites, trails and bathing sites. Besides, along the routes to the heights of the mountains there are those who offer adventure sports such as paragliding and zip-lining.

The microclimate is considered one of the healthiest in the world for being free of pollution and having a high negative ionisation.

There are several localities with services to receive tourists, such as Carpintería, Cortaderas, Los Molles, Papagayos and Villa Larca. In particular, Villa de Merlo is the best known tourist destination in the province. Among the places that have natural attractions and can be visited are the El Talar recreational area, the San Ignacio stream, the Quebrada de Villa Elena (a ravine) and the Tabaquillo waterfall.

The main access road to reach the different points of interest is the Provincial Route 1 that runs along this circuit. There is also the National Route 148, which is a little further away, but parallel to Route 1. For those who want to go by plane, there is an airport in Villa de Merlo, where flights arrive from Buenos Aires (confirm).
