Information

This city is located on the banks of the Gualeguaychú River and 17 km from the shore of the Uruguay River. It is one of the most populated cities in the province of Entre Ríos.

It has a tourist information office, a variety of shops, ATMs, petrol stations, restaurants and hotels of different standards and prices.

During the high summer season (January and February) and on some long weekends, it receives many tourists. It is the quintessential carnival destination, so during the days of the celebrations (check the dates, usually Carnival holidays and Saturdays from January to early March) the hotel capacity tends to be overwhelmed.

The city has a waterfront avenue (Morrogh Bernard Avenue) that is ideal for walking with views of the Gualeguaychú River. It has free parking and a couple of access points to the public beach Playa del Puente. In the surrounding area there are craft stalls and people offering boat rides. There are numerous restaurants and bars across from the waterfront. If you continue south along the waterfront there are other attractions, such as Paseo del Puerto where you can learn about part of the history of the commercial port that operated there; Plaza de La Cultura where there is an amphitheater; and the Parque Costero del Frigorífico located on the grounds of an old meatpacking plant that operated there.

There are several other tourist attractions:
— Parque Unzué: a large green space reached by crossing the Gualeguaychú River over the Méndez Casariego Bridge.
— Beaches along the Gualeguaychú River: in addition to the public beach Playa del Puente, there are several private beaches with camping areas and services.
— Beaches along the Uruguay River: to get there, cross the bridge toward Parque Unzué and continue straight. It is 17 km in total and the road is signposted. You will reach a riverside recreational area with an organized campground.
— Las Piedras Municipal Reserve: a protected natural area located about 14 km from the city. It has trails for exploring the area.
— Museo del Carnaval (Carnival Museum): it is located where the carnival parade venue operates. It displays material related to the history of Carnival.
