An overview of what is there and what to do in the circuit.
It is a ravine in the province of Jujuy through which the Grande River flows. It is more than 150 km long. The landscapes are striking due to the geoforms and the reddish and greenish tones of the mountains that run on both sides of the valley, which are the result of sedimentation and erosion processes that have occurred through the years.
It receives a large number of tourists who come to visit it by means of the paved National Route 9, which runs parallel to the river and serves as access to its main localities. In particular, Humahuaca, Purmamarca and Tilcara have a good infrastructure to receive visitors. It is worth mentioning that geographically Purmamarca is not on the Río Grande River, but on the ravine of another river, but it is still considered part of this circuit.
Among the many attractions that can be seen, the classic ones are the Pucará de Tilcara (it is an archaeological site), the Paseo de los Colorados (you can see geological forms), the old church of Uquía and the historic centre of Humahuaca.
It is worth mentioning that in the localities there are many stalls selling handicrafts. You can also find markets selling typical products and restaurants that prepare traditional food of this region.
