Coast of Río Negro

This circuit includes the destinations and roads that stretch along the Argentine Sea coast in the province of Río Negro. During this journey, you will find a great variety of landscapes that combine stretches of beaches, rocky flats and high cliffs.

On one hand, there is the Ruta de los Acantilados (Route of the Cliffs) or Camino de la Costa (Coastal Road), an extensive route along Provincial Route 1 that crosses large stretches of wild terrain. It is a perfect road for those looking for isolated places and wanting to enjoy being in contact with nature. Along the way there are beaches, coves and places with very little population, where the feeling of being far from everything is part of the experience.

On the other hand, there are also tourist seaside destinations, some of which tend to be very busy during the warmer months of January and February. Such is the case of Las Grutas, which has become very popular and often reaches full hotel capacity during the high season. Other recommended destinations are El Cóndor, located at the mouth of the Negro River; Playas Doradas, near Islote de Lobos National Park; and on both sides of San Antonio Bay are San Antonio Oeste and the more isolated San Antonio Este.

There are also some particular and striking natural attractions, such as the caves ("grutas") of Las Grutas and the huge colony of burrowing parrots in El Cóndor. Added to this is the possibility of observing wildlife, as is the case at Punta Bermeja Reserve where there is a colony of sea lions that can be visited.
